do your turn signals work?
the reason I ask is I had a 99 m2 & the turn signal relay had a melt down. kept blowing my instrument panel fuse. check the fuses under the seat.

Might be a sensor. I'll check to see if I have any in stock.

Take your bike in, get it fixed and trade it in.

I had a 2001 M2 Cyclone and it was one thing after another for the two years and 25,000 miles I owned it. Don't get me wrong, I loved the way the bike looked and handled, but I finally just gave up.

Here is a list of my problems.

Speedo stopped working
Tach stopped working
Turn signals would always stop working after riding in rain or washing the bike then stark working again
Bike would sometimes not start after riding in rain or washing then would start after drying out.
Leaking oil out of air intake
Oil leaking out of trans vent
Blown rocker box gaskets
Blown base gaskets
bad starter
burned out tail light three times
instrument lights would go out and come back on while riding
cracked motor mount

I bought a new 2004 XB12S and have had only one problem, I keep breaking horn mounts, but that's something I can live with, it's just one thing not the many many problems I had with the 01 M2!

Dead speedo sensors are pretty common on tubers. If the speedo is the only thing not working (meaning all the other electrical stuff works), it probably the sensor.

It's a really easy repair.

check your connection on the back of the speedo, then trace out the wire under the tank. the new sensor should have cured your problem, i think the last up date on the sensor part number was a B but i used the sportster sensor and not the buell part.

Buddy, there are magnets on the clutch housing. As they pass the exterior sensor it register how often they pass and this is translated to speed.
Most likely these have fallen off, it happens. Change your tranny fluid if there is some sore magnetic stuff on your plug that is your issue.
It is not hard to fix just time consuming, I mounted a GPS to the face of my speedo and called it a day. I intend on fixing it this winter.

What ever you do don't sell you bike, the burly are just misunderstood, like the triumphs and old Porsches.
A well maintain bell is 1000^2 more fun than any conventional bike. Other than a Honda RC51.

It's been 6 yrs, pretty sure the problem has either been solved or the bike sold off long time ago. 8)
