it sounds like one of your settings somewhere has come undone/ needs adjusted.
please do try to get help elsewhere, then tell us what you find out. this site is not the ultimate fix it site, but it's only as good as the people that are on it contributing.

it does have hydraulic lifters & doesn't require valve adjustments. That being said, they do tend to run noisy, especially when hot. Nothing to worry about though, it's when everything gets quiet that you need to get your wallet warmed up.

This brings up the same question. How do I adjust my timing? Should I just go to Badweb and find it there?

If this just started and you have not moved the timing plate I would say you have a disconnected wire on your VOES switch.. If you want to adjust the tiimg I would suggest you pick up a maintance manual..

I'm willing to fork the cash for one but I cannot find a manual for a 2000 M2 anywhere. The sporttwin store doesn't have it, ebay doesn't have it, ASB doesn't... Where the hell is the switch anyway?

Look for bad vacuum lines/leaks.
Check your carb manifold rubber for leaks.
I think the PN for a VOES is 26555-94 but I'll need to check that....could be bad.
now.. having said that... if you really want a response and help starting off your first post by saying

doesn't exactly create the atmosphere you need to get some help.

and that is your choice... not sure why you have to announce it.... I'm a very sensitive person, are you attempting to hurt my feelings?
If you find a dead link to a document or resource referenced in a post
it is most likely in the Downloads section.

I've posted questions before and sources for answers to anything Buell related is tough to get. So far've relied on the site to help me out after I got screwed form the dealer when I purchased my cyclone used. It's been two years and I'm just now getting it to the point where I can trust it so when something like this happens (engine pinging) it really pisses me off that I have have another issue to fix. I thought my question was simple enough for any knowlegable Buell/Harley mechanic or owner. When no one responds to it, it's like getting kicked in the junk or someone saying F.U. I'm hoping my explaination of my frustration is good enough but I'm at the point where I love the bike but hate owning it. Oh... by the way, isn't the 2001 model fuel injected?

All of the X1's are fuel injected, but they have the same intake manifold & gaskets as the carbed models. In my personal opinion Buells DDFI setup is paleolithic & prone to coughing issues, running lean, etc. They got it more sorted out with the XB models but the X1's are extremely hit & miss.
Now I forgot, do you have a cyclone or an X1? If it's the cyclone then that is carbed, vastly superior bikes to the X1's.

I have a Cyclone and it's pinging. It does cough as much as it used to. I need to know how to time this thing. I can feel in the bike that the ignition is to far advanced. How do I change the timing? I know where I have to do it but this dual fire ignition is screwing with my head. Also, I've heard of different styles of timing marks and such. Does anyone have experience timing these things?
